Exchange Studies
Are you thinking of going abroad for exchange studies, but are not sure of how to go on? UTN have tried to summarize what you need to do to apply for an exchange programme.
Exchange programmes
Uppsala University has two different exchange programmes.
- General exchange is a programme that applies for all students at the university. Meaning that you don't have to study at a specific programme or at a specifik institution. The International Office is in charge of these exchanges.
- Institutional exchange is an exchange programme that requires that you study at a specifik institution.
Another usual programme is the Erasmus Programme:
- The Erasmus Program is a large EU-program. Through this program you are elegible for a special Erasmus scholarship. Many of the International Office's exchange programs are in the Erasmus Program.
Who can go?
All undergraduate students are welcome to apply for the International Office's exchange programme. But you need to meet the following requirements:
- Be undertaking full-time studies at Uppsala University when you apply.
- Have completed at least one semester (full-time) at Uppsala University.
- Have completed one year of full-time studies by the time you begin your exchange.
- Be able to show a good knowledge of the language of instruction
But please not the following:
- students with a student visa/residence permit may not take a sabbatical to participate in exchange studies
- masters students must have a statement from their program coordinator showing that you have discussed the exchange with them and that they consider it relevant for your degree program. Any decision to participate in an exchange program should be taken together with your program coordinator.
- foreign students may not apply for exchange studies in their home country.
If you need any further assistance in applying for exhange programs, contact Head of International Affairs, int@utn.se.
Good luck!
